Greiner Bio-One Expands Factory in Hungary

Mosonmagyaróvár/Kremsmünster, October 8, 2015 – The expansion of the existing production site aims to increase productivity and introduce a new, innovative process. In addition to existing products, pipettes will be manufactured at the site using a special extrusion process. 'Within the Greiner Group, we have extensive knowledge about processing plastic. We are benefiting from this knowledge by introducing the extrusion process at Greiner Bio-One in Hungary," says Axel Kühner, CEO of Greiner Holding AG. "The expansion is in response to the steadily increasing demand for high-quality medical products. Our extrusion process for producing pipettes is increasing the added value at Greiner Bio-One, making us more flexible and less dependent on suppliers," says Rainer Perneker, Division Director of Greiner Bio-One International GmbH.

Sustainable Production Process

Even during the early planning stages for the factory, Greiner Bio-One, a leader in the field of new, innovative technology, focused on designing extrusion and injection-molding technology that would be used for the manufacture of medical products. The company is now the first in the field of medical technology to use groundwater for energy-efficient cooling. Due to hygiene regulations, cooling and ventilation is a challenge when producing medical and laboratory products. Across the whole site, the geo-thermal cooling and heating system reduces operating costs considerably as well as reducing environmental pollution. In addition to the new production facility, the expansion includes a modern, integrated office complex for production-related areas as well as communal spaces.
