Greiner Bio-One @ Ars Electronica Festival

This year, more than 105,000 visitors attended the festival. Over 500 individual events at twelve locations along the festival mile from Linz Central Station to Pöstlingberg offered space for ideas and visions for the future.

Greiner was also represented at the event by engineer Markus Riepl with an exhibition area on the subject of "Enzymatic Recycling". Special bacteria can degrade PET (polyethylene terephthalate) with the help of their enzymes. The resulting degradation products can in turn be used as a raw material to produce plastic granulate. The use of these special enzymes to recycle plastics therefore makes it possible to take a step towards a sustainable, closed cycle of recyclable materials.

At the Ars Electronica Festival, there was an interesting exchange of information on this topic with visitors from all over the world.
