Bernd Klingel will assume the role of Managing Director in Frickenhausen, replacing Heinz Schmid who has successfully led the BioScience division since 2006. Jakob Breuer, Chief Technology Officer, will take up a new position within the company.
Frickenhausen, October 2023 – Greiner Bio-One is saying goodbye to its long-standing and highly esteemed Managing Director in Frickenhausen, Heinz Schmid, who is retiring at the end of October. He can look back on a distinguished career in which he contributed to the company’s success for 47 years and drove the development of the BioScience division. Heinz Schmid started his training as an industrial management assistant at Greiner Bio-One (formerly Greiner Labortechnik) in 1976. After completing his training, he was promoted to assistant to the sales manager and then to Export Manager. In 1989, Heinz Schmid became General Sales Manager and later also assumed responsibility for the Materials Logistics department. Heinz Schmid has been Managing Director in Frickenhausen since 2006 and was also a long-standing board member at Greiner Bio-One International GmbH.
Jakob Breuer, who has been Chief Technical Officer of Greiner Bio-One Frickenhausen since 2018 and was responsible for the operational unit, took up his new position of Global Director of Industrial Engineering BioScience on 15 September.
Passing of the baton in Frickenhausen
The baton has already been officially passed to Bernd Klingel, the new Managing Director of Greiner Bio-One Frickenhausen:

Bernd Klingel brings an impressive wealth of experience with him, some of which was gained in roles as managing director at various industrial companies. His professional career is characterised in particular by his broad expertise in the areas of transformation and performance management as well as business and sales development. With Bernd Klingel as Managing Director, Greiner Bio-One Frickenhausen is aiming to successfully shape the company’s future.
