For the 27th time, the Austrian Export Award was handed out to the best of the best by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber. Greiner Bio-One has been awarded gold.
Kremsmünster, June 2021 On 29th June, the time had come; the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, more precisely Export Business Austria, awarded the 2021 Export Award. In addition to outstanding export successes, criteria such as an extraordinary marketing strategy, innovative strength, sustainability, and the diversification of the export markets were used for evaluation.
Gold in the “Industry” category for Greiner Bio-One
Despite the challenging market situation, Greiner Bio-One continued its success story in exports with a sales increase of 36% and secured gold in the “Industry” category. The worldwide turnover of Greiner Bio-One International grew from 509 to 693 million euros. With an export share of 97%, the Greiner Bio-One Austria site recorded an increase in sales of 67%. The prestigious award was accepted by Rainer Perneker, CEO Greiner Bio-One International GmbH, Georg Heftberger, CSO Greiner Bio-One GmbH and Thomas Scheurecker, CFO Greiner Bio-One GmbH.
"This award was made possible purely by the dedication of our employees. In 2020, we made many additional efforts to supply healthcare systems with our Corona virus-relevant products, to maintain our production operations, and to ensure the required capacities. It makes me even more proud that our efforts have been awarded the GoldExport award”.
Rainer Perneker, CEO of Greiner Bio-One International GmbH
Extraordinary export success during the pandemic
2020 also presented Greiner Bio-One with major challenges. In March and April 2020, there was a global shortage of test material for acute SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics. In only six weeks, Greiner Bio-One was able to develop two new IVD products – the virus stabilization tube and a customer-specific version – and successfully launch them on the market. Until now, both products have been produced exclusively in Austria. The biggest challenges here were the flexible response to global requirements, cross-site work, close cooperation with major customers and regulatory authorities, and the creation of additional production capacities.
"We look back on the most successful year in the history of Greiner Bio-One. This was only possible thanks to the active commitment of all our employees. Despite the restrictions and challenges during the pandemic, we managed to work together intensively to seize our opportunities and successfully implement them."
Georg Heftberger, CSO Greiner Bio-One GmbH
About the Export Award
The Export Award winners were selected by an expert panel chaired by Dr Harald Mahrer. Gold, silver, and bronze were awarded in five main categories. The Austrian Federal Economic Chamber aimed at large companies as well as SMEs. The main condition for consideration was, among other things, the company headquarters being in Austria and the company being more than three years old.
"We are delighted to have won this award because it confirms our efforts to be globally successful. International activities have always determined our actions - we are currently active in 34 countries at 139 locations worldwide. In a difficult year, we focused on the right products and were even able to grow significantly thanks to innovative product development in the field of medical technology. This can only succeed if you are well rooted, but also constantly question structures, allow freedom and, above all, have the best employees."
Axel Kühner, Chairman of the Board Greiner AG
