Greiner sets strategic course for further growth: Mediscan becomes independent division of Greiner Group
The sterilization service provider Greiner Mediscan is being established as an independent division directly under Greiner AG and will no longer be managed within Greiner Bio-One International GmbH. The focus is on scaling technological capabilities in order to meet the increasing demand for sterilization services. Bernhard Achleitner is taking over as CEO of Greiner Mediscan, bringing many years of management and strategy experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
Greiner Mediscan, previously a subsidiary of Greiner Bio-One International GmbH, is being placed directly under the umbrella of Greiner AG as an independent division. With this move, Greiner is laying the foundation to purposefully drive Greiner Mediscan’s strategic development and scaling, and to further expand its position as a reliable partner for international customers.
Greiner Mediscan is already one of Europe’s leading providers in the sterilization of medical products, the sterilization of food packaging, and the functional improvement of plastics and semiconductors using ionizing radiation. Following the recent expansion of the Kremsmünster site in 2024 and an investment of 22 million euros, capacity has been significantly increased. The Kremsmünster site is now one of the largest sterilization centers in Europe. Driven by rising global demand for sterilization services – fueled by regulatory requirements and the increasing need for sterile products in the medical, pharmaceutical, and food industries – Greiner Mediscan is ideally positioned to participate in this growth thanks to its technological know-how.
“By positioning Greiner Mediscan as an independent division of the Greiner Group, we are creat-ing the conditions to leverage our innovative power and know-how even more broadly effective and provide new impetus for strategic development,” emphasizes Saori Dubourg, CEO of Greiner AG.
