How does a coronavirus antibody test work?

ELISA tests are used to find out whether a person has been infected with the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in the past.

If there was disease, this can be detected by the presence of specific antibodies which were formed as a result of the body's immune reaction against the virus. In 5 steps we explain what happens between sampling and the final test result.
