Greiner CEO Axel Kühner explains how this Greiner Bio-One product innovation has managed to make an essential contribution to combating the Covid pandemic. Developed within very short timescales to save lives and help contain coronavirus.
Dale Vince is the founder and CEO of Ecotricity, one of the most important providers of renewable energy in the UK. His dream of a life without fossil fuels began with just a single wind turbine. Today, his company supplies almost 200,000 customers with green electricity and gas.
For many years live-animal experimentation provided the singular means to access intact and living tissue for biological and pharmaceutical research. This situation changed with the introduction of new cell culture approaches that enabled reconstruction of tissue by multi-layering individual cell types in vitro.
The applications presented within this paper illustrate the multiple advantages and possibilities of ThinCert™ Cell Culture products for organotypic tissue culture and tissue reconstruction. The protocols provide detailed instructions that can easily be adapted to suit research interests other than buccal mucosa and skin reconstruction.
Working in a highly regulated environment, sterility and hence a closed system for fluid transfer which excludes any opening of a cell culture disposable during cell cultivation drastically reduces the risk of contamination. For these applications Greiner Bio-One has developed new CELLdisc versions with closed filling caps. Two versions are available; single tubing (-CF1) or double tubing (-CF2).
We The Curious is a science centre and educational charity located on Bristol's Harbourside that provides interactive education for people of all ages.
Greiner Bio-One UK recognises the amazing work that We The Curious does, not only in promoting science to the next generation but also directly to the local community which is only a short drive from our facility in Gloucestershire. We recently donated scientific lab equipment and consumables which will be used as part of their education programme in their on-site laboratories. In addition to this, we have made a donation of £1,000 to help with their recovery from the impacts of the Coronavirus.
The Family Haven was established to help disadvantaged and vulnerable families in Gloucestershire to a brighter future.
Based in Gloucester, just a few miles from our office and warehouse facilities in Stonehouse, The Family Haven provides practical help and support to deprived and vulnerable families with pre-school children, families living in temporary or unsuitable accommodation, those with mental health issues, victims of domestic violence and pre-school children with special or additional needs.
We have supported this amazing organisation over the past 3 years and are delighted to continue to do this over the Christmas period. At a time that can be especially difficult for families in need, we have donated £1,000 to help them continue with their fantastic work.
