Greiner Bio-One wins gold

Game, set and match: Greiner Bio-One scored a major success in the first sustainability rating in the company's history. The ECOVADIS rating platform awarded the company's site in Frickenhausen the gold medal.
Frickenhausen, 23. November 2021 – Greiner Bio-One GmbH has taken part in the EcoVadis sustainability rating for the first time, and the Frickenhausen site has received a gold medal for its commitment and achievements. That puts the company in the top five per cent of rated businesses and, even more impressively, the top two per cent in its particular sector (manufacture of medical and dental instruments and supplies). “Sustainability is a global responsibility to which Greiner Bio-One is fully committed as a business operating worldwide in the medtech and life sciences sector,” explains Managing Director Jakob Breuer.
The BioScience division of Greiner Bio-One ranks among the leading providers of specialist products for the cultivation and analysis of cell and tissue cultures. All development, manufacturing and sales operations are controlled from this division’s German headquarters in Frickenhausen. In addition to participating in the EcoVadis sustainability rating, the company has also obtained certification to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard and the ISO 50001 energy management standard this year.
“Sustainability is more than just a trend”
The analyses focused on a survey that used the Sustainability Scorecard, which provides an overall rating of companies’ sustainability efforts based on 21 indicators relating to the environment, employment and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Greiner Bio-One GmbH’s Frickenhausen site has now obtained this outstanding result in the form of a gold medal. “We are extremely proud to receive this level of recognition for our efforts,” says a delighted Breuer. “Sustainability is more than just a trend to us. It’s the basic prerequisite for a future worth living, which is also why we have firmly established it in our corporate strategy,” he adds.
Immediately after being presented with the gold medal in October 2021, a start was made on implementing a package of measures with a strategic focus to continue systematically driving sustainability at the company.
