Long-standing support with impact: over 4,100 typings
The partnership with āGeben für Lebenā is a prime example of how specific measures can make a lasting contribution to society. Since the cooperation began in 2021, Greiner Bio-One has financed over 4,100 typings with its donations. This is a crucial contribution to registering potential stem cell donors and giving new hope to patients with life-threatening diseases.
Every 300th typing saves a life
Since the start of the collaboration, more than 140 employees have registered during company-internal typing campaigns. Using a cheek swab, any healthy person between the ages of 16 and 45 can be typed to be available as a potential donor worldwide. If the HLA values (parts of the DNA) of the patient and a typed person match, a stem cell donation from this person can give the sick person a new lease on life. Statistically speaking, at āGeben für Leben,ā approximately every 300th typing saves a life. The association has already found 835 stem cell donors since its inception.
āEvery typing increases the chance of finding a suitable stem cell donation for seriously ill people worldwide. The continuous support provided by Greiner Bio-One enables us to plan sustainably and recruit even more people for typing. We are very grateful for this.ā
The ongoing support provided by partners such as Greiner Bio-One forms an essential basis for the work carried out by the āGeben für Lebenā association to give new hope to people suffering from illness.
Geben für Leben ā LeukƤmiehilfe Ćsterreich (Give for Life ā Leukemia Aid Austria)
āGeben für Lebenā was founded 25 years ago in Vorarlberg as a non-profit association, originally out of personal concern. In 2015, the association established Austria's first private stem cell donor registry, which has since become active throughout the country and has grown to become Austria's largest and most successful donor registry.
